Author’s Statement: Xander Kleiman

Keptar-5 is a passion project for me because it is my attempt at the kind of stories I always enjoyed reading. It is full of action, new places and ideas, and hopefully evokes the gritty or surreal science fiction I love reading. Creatively I tried to explore the freedom granted by fiction as a medium, using it to explore new worlds, creatures, and lifestyles. I also wanted to make strong use of descriptive language and author's voice to give the piece a distinct style that still is reminiscent of the kinds of works I tried to emulate. Understand as you go into the piece that it is me trying to write the kind of story I would want to read, and that it was written from a stream of consciousness that I hope you find very interesting.
