Author’s Statement: Will Lewis

During the process of writing this script my intention was to create a fictional short story. The people and places used are figments of my imagination, yet still are inspired by observations and my own experiences. I wanted to capture the vulnerability of teenage hood in both a realistic and mystical way. When the protagonist Jordan takes his unexpected journey to sea it is meant to show the extreme lengths someone might go in order to escape the everyday monotony of life. It is true that often times we feel that our lives are like one big movie yet with non of the cinematic clichés. By no means is this a conventional teenage high school story with love, loss, growth, or major obstacles to overcome. It is more an exploration of a character who craves the larger than life experience only to realize the real and metaphorical dangers of taking unnecessary risks.
