Author’s Statement: Jacob Rockwell

This project is a true reflection on my experience working with the National Park Service a few summers ago in the Rocky Mountains. I camped for a month and worked every day with a crew of 10, learning to love the quiet nights and cold mornings. This piece of writing is meant to demonstrate my love for this particular experience. As I wrote my story, I listed a few of the challenges I faced. I tried to tie each experience together in a flow of poeticism to chronicle the emotional journey that I experienced as well as some facts of my trip. I then connected the experience to the challenges faced at home. My hope is to share the wonder and amazement that I felt.
