California Academy of Mathematics and Science. The junior varsity team finished the season playing in an all-day tournament in Sylmar, making their way to the playoffs and earning a medal. Indoor volleyball has become a signature sport at Wildwood. The upper school boys beach volleyball team completed their inaugural season with eight committed members, seven of whom were sophomores or freshmen. . With such a young squad, we are looking forward to great things in the future for the boys beach . volleyball program. Winter athletics wrapped up the season with a total of 149 participating athletes, fielding elementary girls volleyball and boys basketball teams, as well as four middle school teams and four upper school teams. BASKETBALL Wildwood had three middle school basketball teams (two boys teams and one girls team). The boys A and B teams played hard all season with big wins over Turning Point, New Roads, Calvary Christian, and St. Matthew’s. The girls team advanced all the way to league semifinals before losing a very close game. They were led by the sharp shooting of 7th grader Zoe B., as well as the solid leadership and play of 8th graders Waverly B. and Sadie C. The boys varsity basketball team took to heart the growth mindset and on senior night, they had a memorable victory over league opponent Lennox. Girls varsity basketball earned a berth to the playoffs with a league record of 8-4 and traveled to Ojai to take on a tough Thacher team in the playoffs. SOCCER Wildwood’s middle school coed soccer team finished a fantastic season by advancing to the third round of the playoffs, in which they narrowly lost a 1-0 match in the final minute of play against the top seeded team. The boys varsity soccer team had quality wins over Providence and Pacifica Christian to start their season. In league play, the boys were victorious over Rolling Hills Prep and New Roads, with an exciting win at the winter sports fest. The girls varsity soccer team earned a berth to the CIF playoffs, winning their first-round game in a tough battle against St. Monica Academy of Pasadena. They then traveled

More than 145 athletes participated this fall in the athletics program, competing in the Coastal Canyon League (elementary school), Pacific Basin League (middle school), and Coastal League (upper school). It was a historical fall for Wildwood, as we fielded upper school boys beach volleyball and 5th grade girls basketball for the first time, creating a through line of basketball, soccer, and volleyball for all 5th-12th graders to enjoy competing for eight straight years. CROSS-COUNTRY Wildwood’s middle school pack of Running Wolves cross-country team was small and mighty. Eleven runners competed in seven meets, culminating in a great race at league finals. Eighth grader Jonathan S. had an amazing season, ranking top 10 in every race he ran and earning a personal best by more than 45 seconds at league finals. The upper school cross- country teams had solid seasons. At league finals, the boys team qualified for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) playoffs. On the girls team, senior Sophia S. completed her running career (advancing to the CIF playoffs all four years) by winning the league finals and earning the title Coastal League champion. SWIM TEAM Our middle school Water Wolves continue to make history. We consistently have more than 20 swimmers on the team, and this year was no different as 23 athletes took to the pool. At league finals, two of our boys relay teams shined. Wells U., Eric N., Luke K., and Evan T. were the team leaders, as they worked to bring home first-place finishes. Overall, it was a fun and successful season in the pool. VOLLEYBALL The middle school girls volleyball season was a huge success, with three teams and 34 players participating. The A and B teams finished with winning records and had some great victories over Crossroads, Windward, Brentwood, New Roads, Turning Point, Calvary Christian, and Marlborough. The C team played tough all season and had a big win against a very talented Calvary Christian team. In upper school, 33 students tried out for the girls indoor volleyball team.
