accomplishment and a precursor of more success to come. The team had quality league wins over Hawthorne, Rolling Hills Prep, Vistamar, and New Roads and played the toughest they ever played against Lennox Academy, the perennial league champion. Our girls varsity soccer team was energized by last year’s success. Ending the regular season undefeated and league champions, the girls again qualified for playoffs. They advanced to quarterfinals of CIF playoffs, being one of eight best teams in the Southern Section. Coming up short of the 3-2 score in quarterfinals against a public school of 1,600 kids, the girls represented Wildwood well and made a memory to last a lifetime. SPRING SPORTS We had 162 athletes participate in grades 5 to 12, fielding teams in soccer, boys indoor volleyball, track and field, tennis, girls beach volleyball, and swim. It was an amazing spring season for our competing Wolves. SOCCER Twenty-one 5th graders donned shin guards and cleats ready to represent Wildwood on our coed elementary soccer team. Coached by Herach Danlyan (upper school math teacher with more than 15 years of experience coaching club soccer), the players took to the field ready to play and practice hard. They went undefeated this season and are looking forward to stepping up their game in middle school. VOLLEYBALL Eleven boys came out for the 5th grade volleyball team coached by our assistant athletics director and pro beach volleyball player Reo Sorrentino. The boys had a lot of fun learning the fundamentals of the game while enjoying competition against other schools. In just their third year as a program, our upper school girls beach volleyball team had 14 members and made the playoffs. They went on to play the No. 1 girls beach volleyball team in California, which was a tough matchup. The team was led by 11th grader Juliette W. and 10th grader Ruby S., and they keep growing in terms of players and skill. And in only the second year of upper

SWIM Our upper school swim team finished the season with the boys coming in second and the girls third. We swam in 12 events at league finals and won seven gold medals and four silver medals. Some notable performances came from Avery M., Ryder M., and Luke K., who each won two gold medals at finals. TENNIS The middle school tennis team, coached by Wildwood teachers Megen O’Keefe and Scott Blanding, enjoyed both team and individual success. In team play, we had solid victories over Willows, Geffen, and New Roads. And for the second year in a row, 8th grader Ginger F. won the individual finals and was donned league champion. Our upper school tennis team had 14 committed players, only one of whom was a senior. The team had solid victories over New Roads and Windward. Ninth grader Gabriel B. had a standout season with a singles record of 14-4. TRACK AND FIELD It was an epic year for our middle school track and field team. They broke several personal and school records, especially our girls 4x100 relay team, made up of Juliette M., Nnenna B., Chloe K., and Laurel H., who ran a time of 56.05, earning a second-place finish at league finals. Our upper school track and field team was a large pack of Wolves with 26 team members. They made history by sending seven athletes to the CIF championships in multiple events. Notable performances were by Adele C. (800-meter), Dani B. (1,600- and 3,200-meter), Toochi B. (long jump, 200-meter), William P. (110 hurdles), Kamal M. (triple jump), Matthew Z. (800- and 1,600-meter), and Asha F. (long jump, 200-meter). Eleventh grader Asha F. not only qualified for CIF prelims in the long jump, she also advanced to compete in the state championships where she jumped 19’3”. She came in third in the entire state and is being recruited by several Division 1 schools. Asha is one of the best track and field athletes in California. W
