Inspire Entertainment. After a year, he moved from Los Angeles to a small town in Thailand called Phetchabun, where he taught honors English to students from 7th to 9th grade. In 2016, Alex moved back to the States to work for Verdical Group as the marketing and events coordinator. Alex is happy to be working in an industry where he can practice the Habits of Mind and Heart, as Verdical Group is a for-profit business working to build a

Zealand and Central America. He recently graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in economics and a minor in history. After graduation, Emmett moved to Washington, D.C., to pursue a career in baseball management. He’s currently interning in the baseball operations department of the Washington Nationals.

PIERS BRECHER ’12 Piers spent the summer of 2017 in Morocco, Lebanon, and Jordan studying Arabic and completing research for a master’s dissertation in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at Pembroke College, Oxford. He returned to Morocco to complete his work in the archives and to present his writing for the first time at

KEANU HEYDARI ’13 Keanu graduated from UCLA with honors in 2017 with a bachelor’s in history and a minor in French language and literature. Keanu was a two-term president of Phi Alpha Theta, the History Honor Society. He was also a member of UCLA’s History Undergraduate Advisory Board and Undergraduate Advisory Council and was the recipient of the 2017 UCLA History Department Service Award. After taking a gap year—working as a research intern editing a manuscript— he will begin a doctoral program in history in the fall of 2018 at the Rackham Graduate School, University of Michigan.

NICHOLE SHANFELD ’13 Nichole graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Journalism and Communication in May. She moved back to Los Angeles to work at Discovery Inc. as a sales assistant on the Travel Channel, Food Network, and HGTV. Nichole is currently studying for her real estate license and hopes to become a salesperson for residential housing.

CHIARA ROSENBAUM ’11 After completing a master’s in narrative medicine at Columbia University, Chiara moved back to California to pursue a career in medicine. During her first year in medical school, she joined the student-run free clinic executive board and oversaw the clinic’s operations. Chiara’s long-term goal is to integrate structural competency into the doctoring curriculum at her school, but in the meantime, she intends to introduce her peers to this innovative way of thinking at the clinic.

REBECCA KAHANE ’12 In 2016, Rebecca graduated magna cum laude from USC with a degree in communications and a minor in entrepreneurship. While on a study abroad program to London, Rebecca fell in love with fashion and learned that clothing can be used for both expression and creativity. She now works as a fashion stylist and Taylor Jacobson’s styling assistant.

EMMETT ROSENBAUM ’13 After high school, Emmett took a gap year, taking the opportunity to travel in New
