Our Wildwood, Summer 2021, Volume 46

Karen Dye is hired to build upon Wildwood’s strong DEIB foundation. Wildwood Institute for Entrepreneurship (WIE) is launched also with the support of the same Edward E. Ford Foundation Leadership Grant. As of 2021, Wildwood’s middle and upper program has graduated 886 alumni.

Outreach Center expands the Systems Thinking Schools partnership program with LAUSD with a grant from The Carl & Roberta Deutsch Foundation. Wildwood is awarded a matching grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation for its Institute Model. Financial Aid Program transitions to Flexible Tuition, aligning with Wildwood’s inclusive practices.

Wildwood becomes a founding member of the Mastery Transcript Consortium for the betterment of students by creating and implementing a new transcript that measures mastery rather than grades. New environmentally friendly athletics field is installed at elementary campus.

The Wildwood Institute for Social Leadership (WISL), the second of three planned Institutes, is launched with the support of an Edward E. Ford Foundation Leadership Grant. Wildwood is one of only four recipients of the grant that year and the only 2018 recipient in the Western U.S. Wildwood becomes accredited by the Council of International Schools for its global citizenship curriculum.

The Foundation for the Future, the largest campaign in Wildwood history, launches at State of School. Pictured are Corinna Cotsen and Lee Rosenbaum, trustee and former Board chair, attending campaign leadership event to launch the Foundation for the Future. Wildwood community pivots to off-site learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Renovations begin at the middle and upper campus for new theater; the three Institutes; transformation of the library; an additional science lab; new classroom spaces; and 22 new skylights.
