Landis taught me an important lesson through one simple expectation: all faculty attend senior graduation. I obviously didn’t know any seniors for a long time, but once previous students were the seniors, it was life changing to see previous students as seniors— mature, confident, well-spoken, smart, and tall! While I won’t quite remember specific life lessons, I have some words: he taught me about intent vs impact. Aka to take accountability for the impact, regardless of intent. This works especially well with people you love. Treat them how they want to be treated.”
