LASTING LEADERSHIP Board of Trustees

Supporting Academic Curiosity

During my 14 years (and counting) at Wildwood, I’ve had the incredible fortune of being able to lean on the support of long-serving trustees whose insight as parents, community leaders, and experts in progressive education have helped guide our school every step of the way. Few schools are in the enviable position of having members serve on their Board with such tenure, and Wildwood is all the better for it.

Wildwood gave our family an LA community—one that had endured even after our children graduated. Moving to LA in 2005, we knew no one. My older son started in Pod 4, and we immediately found a home. To this day, Pod 4 moms remain some of my closest friends. Wildwood has a special way of connecting people, building bridges, and enabling lifelong friendships. Wildwood gave our children an exceptional educational experience and all of us exceptional friends. Lisa Flashner, alumni parent of Jake ‘17 and Zac ‘20, Board of Trustees, and Board Chair 2014-2017

Landis Green, head of school

Wildwood is among the most special of private, independent schools. It is proudly, unapologetically a different sort of animal, one that thrives on being outside the mainstream, and we need more Wildwoods in the world

As my family prepares to have our second child graduate from Wildwood, we are ever more grateful for how the school has shaped our kids from kindergartners to adults. From our first D.E.A.R. time 14 years

to create graduates who will make a difference. Many schools begin as progressive but sooner or later succumb to market pressures to become more conventional in how they educate. Wildwood is proudly progressive, even more so after 50 years than at the beginning. Wildwood is authentic education as it ought to be, whether at elementary or in the Institutes. I fell in love on my first visit, and after 14 years on the Board, my enthusiasm for what we are doing is only growing. Marc T. Frankel, Ph.D., partner in Triangle Associates, St. Louis and Board of Trustees

ago to feeling the joy of one—and soon to be both—of our kids become Wildwood graduates, we’ve been impressed by the power of coupling an innovative, rigorous curriculum with thoughtful teachers who have acted as guides and coaches to Jess and Nathan along the way. Joel Brand, alumni parent of Jesse ’20 and parent of Nathan ’21, Board of Trustees, and Board Chair 2017-2020
