2010 Wildwood Board of Trustees Task Force approves five-year strategic plan outlining goals for reaching public and private schools around Los Angeles, the nation, and the world by offering custom workshops and consulting services at Wildwood and at client schools.

2005 Wildwood is recognized with the Leading Edge Award for Community Relations from the National Association of Independent Schools for the Outreach Center’s work with LAUSD schools.

2007 Wildwood becomes an official

mentor school within the Coalition of Essential Schools (CES) to assist in the startup of two small public schools in California—the first and only independent school honored with this task.

The Outreach Center launches Critical Friends Group New Coaches Training, providing in-depth five-day education in group facilitation techniques for educators from around the U.S. and the world.

The American School Foundation of Mexico City becomes the Outreach Center’s first international school client, seeking expertise in developing a high school Advisory program. LA-area independent schools begin seeking the Outreach Center’s consulting services. Crossroads, Harvard- Westlake, and Mirman School are among the growing client list.

Monique Marshall, Wildwood elementary school teacher, launches the Outreach Center’s highly popular Never Too Young signature workshop, inspiring educators to integrate multicultural discussions and social activism into their daily classroom practice for students in elementary grades. The inaugural Multicultural Leadership Institute launches an annual five-day summer intensive learning and planning workshop for independent and public school educators from around the country featuring Wildwood experts and national thought leaders. The Outreach Center’s influence expands to Europe, supporting Advisory program development in the first of two visits to the American School in London.

STEVE BARRETT, former upper school teacher, returns to Wildwood to direct the Outreach Center.
