The Outreach Center brings the Wildwood philosophy to the Middle East and leads Advisory development work with faculty at the American School of Doha, Qatar. Systems Thinking Schools launches with the support of The Carl & Roberta Deutsch Foundation grant: A public/private school partnership featuring online teaching materials and face-to-face professional development that expands on the work of Wildwood and Palms Elementary School’s work with Systems Thinking to schools across Los Angeles and the U.S.

Wildwood is selected as a featured school for the 2020 Global Educational Leadership Summit in Bangkok for its work with Systems Thinking and the Institute Model. The Outreach Center takes its nationally known five-day workshop, the Multicultural Leadership Institute (MLI), on the road to Rosenberg Elementary School in Galveston, Texas, to share Wildwood’s work and practices in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). The Outreach Center begins its partnership with the public school reform movement in Taiwan. Director Steve Barrett spends a week in Taipei leading elementary and middle school educators in professional development in Systems Thinking and Social-Emotional Learning.

An inaugural group of the top public elementary and middle school teachers from Taiwan spends a week in February (pre-pandemic) observing and working alongside seven Wildwood teachers on both Los Angeles campuses. The Outreach Center transitions to delivering all professional learning online, meeting the needs of educators everywhere via Zoom. Sessions tap the talents of nearly a dozen Wildwood teachers and administrators and include one-hour to five-day workshops on Distributed Learning structures and practices, Social-Emotional Learning, Systems Thinking, Teaching Over Zoom With Technology, Mindfulness, and ensuring a rigorous online math curriculum.
