BRANCHES

Methodologies: 1. Run steps 3 through 13 with a beta test group of 2 individuals to validate procedural logistics. 2. Establish a sample set (volunteer pool) of individuals. The only requirement is that the volunteer pool’s age range is not dramatic. The participants should not range more than 4 years of age from youngest to oldest participant. This experiment used members of the Junior and Senior classes at Wildwood School in West Los Angeles, California. 3. Ensure that the trial setting is void of distracting visual, auditory (sensory, etc.) stimuli. This will isolate the observed phenomena to the intended treatments.

4. Attach the EMOTIV EPOC+ 16 Channel Mobile EEG to the subject and connect the device to the MyEMOTIV software.

5. Name the trial “Control_Subject_001” and each subsequent subject will increase numerically.

6. Begin by observing the subject’s control state. Capture the affected responses of this individual under normal conditions as control (account for natural variation in individual samples).

7. End the control capture and begin trials.

8. Instruct the individual to read the selected pieces of literature.

9. Name each trial with the subject number and trial: Example: “Grapes_of_Wrath_Subject_001”

10. Monitor and capture the affected responses over the duration of reading.

11. After each capture, also enter the recorded affected response metrics into an excel sheet for analysis.

12. Repeat steps 7 through 10 for each subsequent piece of literature.

13. Repeat steps 3 through 11 for each subsequent subject.
