For a VNC client go to https://www.realvnc.com/en/connect/download/viewer/macos/ and download the proper version (according to your operating system) of VNC Viewer. Once in the app, type the IP address in the search bar and press enter to begin communicating with the computer. 3.4 File System on the Pi The Pi’s preset file train was revised to accommodate the long-term nature of our coral restoration research. We set up an initial system to sort photos for a quick query of the data as shown in Figure 15. A longer-term, more robust method to search images is described further in Section 3.10.3.

3.5 Camera and Lens The camera used was chosen as it has enough resolution to process the difference between a ruler and a coral fragment. The Raspberry Pi Camera version 2.1 (Figure 16) is an 8 mp camera with video capabilities in 1080p at 30 fps, 720p at 60 fps, and 640 x 480p at 60/90 fps. The Pi camera also offers a V4L2 driver, which provides a standard API on top of the firmware-based camera system for Linux integration. The resolution of the photos goes up to 3280 x 2464 pixels on the command line. The camera was purchased from Cana Kits.
